Room 3 displaying their learning
In room three we were set a task by our teacher. We had to make a large ball and a small ball out of 4 strips of paper with only 3 instructions and images to follow. This is what happened next.
Ivy and Unique collected their 4 short strips and 4 long strips and laid them out in groups of short strips and groups of long strips. Next to them Lucas and Kayson made a pattern of short strip, long strip.
Next the students decided to lay out the strips into a snowflake as on the instructions but Unique said she was good at making snowflakes so she would be the expert and come and check to see if everyone got it right. She also said "remember don't glue until we know it's right."

Some students found it hard to get their snowflake right and started to ask for guidance from the teacher. Perhaps we could find the middle of each strip and that would help us put our snowflake together. I heard a lot of "oh, I can't do that!" Then Keira spoke up and said "Oh! I think I know what to do. We need to fold in half to find the middle." She quickly tried it out and soon everyone was busy folding their strips into half.
After finding half it was time to try once again to make the snowflake successfully.
After completing the snowflake the students worked to make the ball shape. They found that if they joined two strips together and then continued adding to this, they would end up with a ball.
I was very proud of my students, not only did they successfully make a small and a large ball, but they displayed all of our classroom treaty goals:

Visual Arts Week
In Room 3 for visual arts week we looked at the work of Claude Monet. We discovered he lived in France and he painted over 1000 pieces of art. We chose to replicate the painting of "Bridge over a pond of water lilies." Below is our end result.

Instructions for Room 3's art
1. Make a bridge on your paper using masking tape making sure the little pieces are attached to the long continuous strip
2. Put your finger paint colours onto a paper plate.
3. Using only your fingers use the blue paint for the water and the green paint for the trees making sure to cover the masking tape.
4. After filling your paper mix your paints to make new colours to add flowers to your painting.
Meaning of a New Word
In Room 3 our big book this week was Hullabaloo at the Zoo. Before reading the big book we had a discussion on what the word "Hullabaloo" might mean. Below are the ideas we had before reading the book, these are written in blue marker. After reading the book we all agreed on the same meaning which is written in green. We had lots of fun playing the part of the Zoo animals making a big Hullabaloo!

Describing Super Light Clay
In Room three we have been learning how to describe things. Keira brought in her super light clay and this is how the class chose to describe it.
The clay was squishy and smelly. It was soft but hard to pull. When it was pulled it sounded like the velcro on your shoes. Some of us thought it smelt like chocolate and some of us thought it smelt like a lollipop but Mayshar thought it smelt like earwax. Keira brought in two different clays one was purple and one was green, we used the purple one.
