Groups Of Ten

Today we have been at school for 100 days. We had to do an activity that used the number 100. We chose to show the number 100 with linking cubes. First we picked out the colours that we liked best. Then we counted them into groups of ten. We then had to share what we had been doing with Mrs Hiddleston while she recorded us on the IPad.

We read a book called space scarecrow. Our group task was then to make our own space scarecrow First We got the cereal box for a body.We put on the legs and filled them with mud so he could stand up.We cut holes for the arms to go in.We stuck on the head and eyes and put them on the body.We painted the space scarecrow silver. Then 3 of the boys made guns it was Joseph Caesar and Alareeo  then Joseph gun was a nuke and Caesar gun was a machine gun and Alareeo's was a flame gun. We thought that the. Scarecrow needed these to scare away the birds so that the seeds could grow and not be eaten by the birds.

In our reading group we had been reading about a man who made a scarecrow to stop the birds from stealing his grapes. For our group task we then had to make a scarecrow. This is how we made our scarecrow:-

We had to stuff the t-shirt with news paper.  

Next we stuffed the bag to make the head.

We put sticks into the scarecrow to make him stand up.

Then we tied the arms and pants with string to stop the news paper from coming out.

Finally we put wool on to the hat. Then we put the hat onto the scarecrow.

Auckland Botanic Gardens

On Friday June 6 we had a school trip to Auckland Botanic Gardens. We had a great time and learnt so much about herbs, vegetables, fruits and plants. Watch our video to see what a great time we had.

My Picture Of Kawau Island

In the holidays I went to Kawau Island on the ferry. I went upstairs so that I could see the sea. A little bit of water went in my face it was cold. Then we saw a Brocken tower that had brown bricks, it was 39 years old. After that we looked over at the bays. It was a good for lunch because it was a sunny day and we had a picnic. I saw a beach near the ferry and played with the seaweed. Some went into my mouth and it tasted like salt. I had a great day.
