First we had to make the number 87. Then we had to half our number. We had 2person we had to think how many sticks each person would get.each person  got 4 groups of ten and 3 ones and there was one left over. Our number was odd.

The number 79

Our number was 79.We use sticks to make the number 79,we also bundled ten to make the number.We shared 79 by getting  one bundle of ten ,and we shared  the ten  by sharing it to each  side. Our number was odd because it ends with a odd number and that odd number is nine because u can't half it threw two people.     

Making 147

First we done bundles of ten and there were 14 bundles of ten and there was 7 ones were left over and our total was147 and our number was a odd number. When we half it we had 73  in each group and 1 left over.n

Film Festival Movie: Duffy Saves the Day

In Room 4 this term we have been looking at what different ethnicities make up our classroom and how those countries differ to New Zealand. In making this movie we thought it was a good way to share with others some of the facts we learnt about each country. We hope you find this information both useful and interesting.

Making 56

Black widow used  sticks to macke 56. We bundles five tens and added six ones and we did it by working as a team! We also counted in tens.

Place Value

The Rappers had to bundle up Eight tens and add two ones to make Eighty two. Next we had to write about our maths.

      

                                

Making 92

We had to make the number 92 first we bundled tens and we had to keep adding tens until we got to 90 we then had to add 2 ones to make 92.

Learning How to Make The Number 78

We are The Spy Kids and we chose to use the number 78. We had to put the number into tens and ones. We did this by joining the cubes together to make ten and the single cubes made the ones. This is our number.

Making 88

First we had to get 8 tens then we had to get 8 ones.After that we had to take a photo of it.We chose 

88 because it was the biggest number and we wanted to do a lot of work.

 

My Space Rockets

My space rockets has 2 sets of 3 that=6.My rockets are from the book the space party.In my drawing I  drawed  the planets mars Pluto and the sun.Pluto is full of ice and rocks.Mars is made out of fire and fire rocks.My rockets are going to the space party.

      

First Medal For Alaree'o

I went to Health Camp. When I was there I had to take part in a competition. The competition was to use the big blocks to make the biggest and widest castle we could so that we could fit inside it. My castle was made of brown blocks and it was the tallest. I worked hard on my castle and I built it by myself. I was the winner of the competition. I won this medal because I made the biggest castle. I also won a pack of surprises in the pack was the jigsaw puzzle that you can see in this picture. I had an excellent time at camp.

Making $1.80

When me and Vance were doing our money maths the teacher said we had to find as many ways as possible to make $1.80. We made 8 ways, which took most of our time.Before we had 7 ways of making $1 80. We said to the teacher "Miss we finished" the teacher said "is there any other ways?".We had to think if there were any other ways,then I said "oh I know what we're missing.I tried to find the right coins but,they were all taken. I asked if anyone had any spare coins and there were just enough coins to make an eighth way.

Plus number

I made 15 out of blocks it was so easy to make it you have to put in tens and five ones.

Our Maths

Before  morning tea we maded out of the sticks sixty nine and  out of cubes ten and twenty. When we made  69 out of sticks together we made 6 bundles of ten and we did 9+1=10 and 10+10=20.

Stepping Out

Constable Cyrus came to room 4 to show us how to cross the road safely. To cross safely we must Stop! Look! Listen! Decide! So that we can check no cars, buses, vans or bikes are coming. Then we can cross safely remembering to keep looking right and left as we cross.

Remote Control Hellicopter

On Sunday the 7th of September me my mum,my dad & my brother went to the Kmart to buy a remote control Hellicopter.I knew that they had the Hellicopter  because we went there on Saturday the   16th of September.Once I found it my dad opend it to look at the instuctions & my brother said "are you allowd to open it" and my dad said"no but,where gonna buy it anyway."We went to the counter and I bought it with my 20 dollers out of $54.We went to Harvy Norman to buy the doubble A batteries and went home & played with the Hellicopter.

A Great Day

            

In the weekend  I went to San  kyaw's  house  i  took my  puppy.  when  I  got  there I told my brother to take the puppy home. And I got to play basketball.

Fundraising for scouts

On Sunday the 7th September at 4:30my mum,dad,brothers and me went to Morin Road market in our car.After we got there my brothers and me started to set up our stall wile our mum and dad set up there stall.we were fundraising for scouts so that we could rebuild the hall.At the end of the day we were all very tired and went home.

The fun day

In the weekend I went to the warehouse with my family. I went to the warehouse in a van.After that we checked our shopping.When my mum was busy checking the shopping I was  pushing the pram. We went to the warehouse on Sunday at 9ooam. We went to the warehouse  to buy things for Father's Day.it was so fun.

Family dinner

My mum and my family went to a family dinner because it was Father's Day. we went at dinner time we ate chicken and a drink and heaps of food and we went in our red cool car. It was fun as! and we ate at the food festival.

I love my Nanna.

I went to my Nannas home because it was Father's Day. We went 3:00pm we went in a car. And we went on Friday. And I went with my dad my mum and sister.

X Factor Working On Number 143 As A Team

We thought of some things that would make 143. We added 10s and subtracted 10s. We counted how many tens there are in 143 and how many ones there are in 143. We had several examples.

L.A Group found lots of numbers that were Smaller than 143

In our group we used the symbol for > bigger than and < smaller than. We found out that we could start at zero and go all the way up to 142 using using the symbol > bigger than with the number 143.

We used our fingers to count backwards. One was writing while the other one was thinking. The highest number that we had was 1143. Our lowest number was 142. We did about 7 examples. After that we checked our answers to see if they were all right. Then we had to get an iPad out to take a picture of our work on blogger.

In maths today we noticed that we could find lots of different ways of making the number 143 if we followed a pattern. Our first pattern was to add on to both numbers to get the same answer because it was take away. But our second pattern was addition so we had to do the opposite, if we went higher by 1 in one number we had to go lower by 1 in the other number. We found lots of ways to make 143.

Counting backward from 99 to 80

Shailah and Kezia counted backwards from 99 and we stopped at 80. We strated with an odd number and finished with an even number. Each number that Kezia wrote was an odd number and each number that Shailah wrote was an even number.

Counting Backwards

first we had to think of a number between 0-100. We started by counting from ninety all the way back to seventy one. Next we had to have our photo taken and then put our post on to the blog.

We took turns in writing the numbers from 20-0. we were practising counting backwards.

Room Four's Maths

Each day we could earn 8 marbles if we got all the marbles we could each day it would take 3 days to fill the jar.

Problem Solving Maths

If every day we went to dance and singing we could get 8 marbles a day.If you double 8 you have 16 but if you add 8 more you get 24.It would take 3 days to fill our jar.

 

If we got 4 marbles a day it would take six days to fill our marble jar.we worked it out by making groups of four and we had 6 groups.

Groups Of Ten

Today we have been at school for 100 days. We had to do an activity that used the number 100. We chose to show the number 100 with linking cubes. First we picked out the colours that we liked best. Then we counted them into groups of ten. We then had to share what we had been doing with Mrs Hiddleston while she recorded us on the IPad.

Reading group Hippos

We read a book called space scarecrow. Our group task was then to make our own space scarecrow First We got the cereal box for a body.We put on the legs and filled them with mud so he could stand up.We cut holes for the arms to go in.We stuck on the head and eyes and put them on the body.We painted the space scarecrow silver. Then 3 of the boys made guns it was Joseph Caesar and Alareeo  then Joseph gun was a nuke and Caesar gun was a machine gun and Alareeo's was a flame gun. We thought that the. Scarecrow needed these to scare away the birds so that the seeds could grow and not be eaten by the birds.

In our reading group we had been reading about a man who made a scarecrow to stop the birds from stealing his grapes. For our group task we then had to make a scarecrow. This is how we made our scarecrow:-

We had to stuff the t-shirt with news paper.  

Next we stuffed the bag to make the head.

We put sticks into the scarecrow to make him stand up.

Then we tied the arms and pants with string to stop the news paper from coming out.

Finally we put wool on to the hat. Then we put the hat onto the scarecrow.

Auckland Botanic Gardens

On Friday June 6 we had a school trip to Auckland Botanic Gardens. We had a great time and learnt so much about herbs, vegetables, fruits and plants. Watch our video to see what a great time we had.

My Picture Of Kawau Island

In the holidays I went to Kawau Island on the ferry. I went upstairs so that I could see the sea. A little bit of water went in my face it was cold. Then we saw a Brocken tower that had brown bricks, it was 39 years old. After that we looked over at the bays. It was a good for lunch because it was a sunny day and we had a picnic. I saw a beach near the ferry and played with the seaweed. Some went into my mouth and it tasted like salt. I had a great day.

Room 4's Golden Rules

Coates Crescent

We had to sort our houses onto a street and explain why we chose to do what we did. Battle craft  put the two story's at the top & the one story's at the bottom . 

We  put the  one story house at the bottom because they are wider and the the two story houses at the top because they are taller.

Yay

Kings Road

We had to sort our houses on our road and then explain why we chose to put them on the road like we did. Group Eminem decided to put all the houses that had the colour yellow on them at the top of the road and all the houses that didn't have yellow at the bottom of the road.

Caen Road

We had to sort our houses and then explain why we decide to put them like we did. Super girl power made a pattern by starting with a tall house followed by a short house and continued this pattern until the end of the road.

Spelling

This week our group learnt their spellings by rolling a ball back and forth with a partner spelling out the words a letter at a time. Friday's are our spelling test day. Here are our results.

Today we  had a spelling test and we had to sit back to back . We wrote our spellings in a list. I got ten out of ten.

We had to sort out the m&ms in to piles. At the end we got to eat the m&ms .and we took a photo.

Dancing in the Hall

On Wednesday we had a special activity with Mrs Eeles. We all went down to the hall and learnt how to dance to "Banana Banana" and "Let it Go Let it Go" we had lots of fun
